Real time eye-AF for birds...
AF tracking works even at f/22...
1/400 flash sync (1/500 in APS-C)...

I still wonder why they support CFExpress Type A and not Type B. Isn't Type B faster? Is it for the size?

It's much smaller and allows backward capability of the slot to SD cards.  It's still plenty fast enough for anything the camera is capable of doing.  Type A cards are twice as fast as XQD.  Here's a page that copares them:

What do you think the cost might be for this photographic wonder?

Studying the features and capabilities of this camera, on paper, especially if the bird eye-detect works well, this would be the best bird photography camera we have ever seen given the no-blackout, super high FPS, 1/400 flash sync (1/500 in APSC), 240 Hz EVF refresh (essentially no perceivable EVF lag), and large buffer.

Here's the full spec sheet:

Great, a USD6.5K/CAD$8.5k idiot proof camera. So now even a three year old can take one of those tack-sharp duck-in-flight photos that we see all over the internet. He/she doesn't even need to know it's a bird...or duck for that matter :-)

It will still take someone who can get good subjects, good light and knows what they are doing....I am sure
that the same people who are talented now will still be challenged in the field and people who can't get good shots now will still not get good shots...The FPS is over the top and good shooters I know think 10-14 fps is enough, I doubt many will shoot at 30 fps.
It sounds like a really nice new camera, it will not replace field craft and "being there" which is still the most important thing.
Sony is tempting me, they are really pushing things, putting out ground breaking stuff.

Specs are awesome.

I’m too invested in Nikon right now or I’d get in line for one.
I’m hoping the Z9 or whatever it will be called will compete.
If not..........

This is a tempting camera, but then I want to see the performance of the real camera - especially noise.
Since I am on a Canon system, would it make any sense to get this camera (vs R5) with the adapter - just to get 5 extra mp, and higher FPS?
Is eye tracking better in Sony vs R5?
Sony A1 with the 200-600 lense seems like a wonderful combination.

Sony A1 with the 200-600 lense seems like a wonderful combination.
- It's a Sony stacked BSI sensor - noise will be better than Canon even though Canon has made some strides recently
- If you plan to use Canon lenses, buy a Canon camera.  you will be disappointed in cross manufacturer AF tracking performance with an adapter and the jury is out on what kind of frame rate you could get with that combination.
- Probably not on birds but as good or better on other subjects with eyes - TBD
- Yes, any Sony FE mount camera is excellent with the 200-600

Pretty good summary of all of the a1 features (yes I know Tony sometimes gets things wrong but this looks to be a well done summary).  Also a comparison to the Canon R5 towards the end of the video:

After watching his review, I'm a bit hesitant to buy it. Not that it doesn't look good, just a few things I didn't expect like a much lower frame rate on bif and the bird AF not being at Canon's level.

I do hope the bird AF works well perhaps there are a few settings that need tuning in that no one has had time to sort out yet, but if without bird AF it's just a little better than the a9mkII that would be amazing and along with a few more MPs I don't see it as a problem .
