His copper plate solution just shows canon could easily modify the camera to get better performance. My guess is we may see that either from canon or a 3rd party in the future. I really don't care as this is only a problem with very high video capture which I never do.

I am guessing in cold weather that might cause condensation to enter the camera? I am sure Canon have their reasons for not using such a solution.
