Nothing beats the look of a 600f4. I miss that look now that my main lens is an f6.3 at 600.

No doubt it is a fine lens, BUT, after looking at some of the latest imagesby Arash Hazeghi using the Sony A9ii in combination with the Sony 600mm with 2xTC - there is no way Nikon (or Canon) can compete.

Fortunately Nikon makes an excellent 500mmPF lens for those who are not in the market for a 15K lens.

Different folks, different strokes. I don't even like his images, they are too "crunchy" to my taste. As far as IQ and color goes I still like the pictures taken with the Canon 600 f 4.0 and Canon 5D Mark IV the best. The 600 mm Nikon is substantially lighter than the Sony 600 or any other 600 on the market. If Nikon comes out with a camera comparable or exceeding Sony and Canon, then they will have a winning combination.

Karl, wanted some clarification on your point that "The 600 mm Nikon is substantially lighter than the Sony 600 or any other 600 on the market" ? A quick google of specs for the Sony 600 f4 indicates a weight of 3000g, the Canon 600f4 3050g and the heaviest is the Nikon 600f4 bending the scales at 3810g. In the case of Nikon and Canon you still have to add the weight of an adapter to make it work with the mirrorless bodies. Perhaps I am missing something? I am just referring to the hard facts of weight comparison, not more subjective variables like color rendition.

I don't know where my information came from anymore. Somehow, somewhere I read that the weight was 5 lbs.
Sorry for the mistake.

No apology necessary Karl. I recall when the most recent Nikon 600 f4 came out, not that long ago it seems and it was the lightest for a short while.
