It is good to see some competition to the expensive "premium" brands. I never liked Canon's MT-24EX flash as I could not get decent diffusion and the two heads often interfered with the subjects. I'm using the 65mm MP-E lens to photograph micro-moths with a MR14-EX flash. As the 65mm has very little working distances the Meike flash will have the same problems as the MT-24EX. Despite the annoying curly connecting cables that come with Canon's macro flash they are preferable IMO to the multiple battery configuration used by this flash.

I'm hopeful that someone will develop a flexible LED "sheet" that will function like those home-made diffusers used to good effect by many bug photogs.

Cheers,

Jim

For a detailed comparison between the Meike and Nikon versions see:

Nikon, Canon and Sony versions are currently available from China. I was told last June by a representative of the Gradus Group (owned by B&H) that all three versions will also be available for sale in the US. But he couldn't give me a date.
