I took out the screw on the other day as I wanted to remove the replacement foot and it still held firm because of the pin.
I then removed one of the stop screws as it was sticking out at the bottom and I did not like it. Cut it shorter, filed it to exact length put it back in and applied a little glue. Now it is super safe and looks better by not having sticking out screw end.

Well the deal has been done and I now have a 500 f5.6 PF in my hands. Now off to AFFT it and do some shooting. I can say without any AFFT done, it appears very sharp compared to my 200-500 f5.6. LOVE the size and weight!!!

Hi Tim,
I'm glad that you got your lens. You'll love it.
My 200-500 is super sharp but still sits on a shelf as it is heavy but will keep it.

So far I love this new lens. I wish my 200-500 was super sharp. It is quite sharp at 450mm inside of 20 feet, but beyond that, not so sharp and at 500mm barely acceptable to me. I suspect I got a bad copy as everyone seems to love it.

And did you decide to go with the Wimberley foot?

I had two Wimberley plates here, so I just put one of them on for the time being. If I decide I need a replacement foot, I will definitely get the Wimberley. As it is right now, the plate seems to work just fine.

I ordered the Wimberley plate, the stock foot with that little release lever seems like an accident waiting to happen. This lens is amazing. I love being able to carry it and macro at the same time. I don't mind the f-stop loss and BG separation issues at all.
