I think I am the only Fuji Medium format shooter on NSN so nobody but me may care but Fuji finally filled the huge gap they had in the GFX lens line-up between the 120mm and 250mm lens by introducing a small and light (for medium format) 100-200mm f/5.6 lens...

You can read some of my thoughts on the GFX system in general in my latest newsletter:
http://www.ejphoto.com/Quack%20PDF/Quac ... 202018.pdf
It starts at the bottom of Page 9.  I have since figured out how to stop the constant dimming of the rear LCD that i list in the cons.  Also, now that my batteries are burned in and I am totally familiar with the system I seem to be wasting a lot less power and am getting closer to 400 shots per battery.

I don't really talk about the lenses much in the article, I currently have the 23mm (18mm FF equiv), 32-64mm (25-50 FF equiv.), 120mm Macro (95mm FF equiv.), 250mm (200mm FF equiv.) and the 1.4x for the 250mm to get that lens up to 350mm (280mm FF equiv.).  I have the new 100-200 (80-160 FF equiv.) on order.  All of the lenses are the best lenses I have ever used in their genre from center to edge.  Even the 250 with 1.4x is mind blowingly sharp which I guess is to be expected of a telecoverter that costs more than $800.

Hey E.J.

I don't post very often, but as you know, I've pre-ordered the 100-200 as well. I've got the 23mm, 32-64mm, and 250mm. The new zoom will complete my kit.

Looking forward to your thoughts on the lens once it arrives.

Cheers,
David

Good to see you here David.  Looks like we will have a largely identical lens set except for the 120 and the 1.4x.  Are you going to try the Laowa GFX 17mm f/4 when it ships?

Actually, I do have the incredibly expensive 1.4x...It's awesome and I can't wait to see how it performs on the 100-200.

I haven't been following the Laowa....can you share a link?

Here is a link to the latest info on the Venus Optics Laowa 17mm f/4 for GFX - they claim a March release but Venus Optics claimed September when they first announced it almost a year ago then they said December at Photokina...  they are showing it at the trade shows though.  the second link is a short video of the prototype:

Thank you E.J.! Actually it was your artiche that sparked my interest in the system.
I’ve briefly tried the 50r and the 32-64 and was impressed by the lens. Not as much by the camera, so I’ll probably try the 50s.
Lenses wise, 23, 32-64, 100-200, 1.4x is what I’m pondering for a high quality, though relatively compact kit.

Yeah the 50R is getting a lot of hype but the 50S is just a much more complete and, in my opinion, despite being older, a much better camera in almost every way except maybe aesthetics.  Personally, I'll take usability over camera aesthetics every single time ;)
