IQuick3Pod 40.4 Carbon Fiber Tripod from UniqBall is a 4-section support with 10-layer carbon fiber-constructed legs.... Located at the top of the tripod, the spider has a built-in leveling base that helps to straighten out your horizons...

Anyone with extensive field use of this new tripod, specifically the built-in leveling base? Major question: how secure is the leveling plate?  Possibly two or three redundant clamping screws and not just a single one-point lock?

The common habit of tossing the tripod with camera and big lens on the shoulder while walking - and the built-in leveling base falls out... would be catastrophic. EJ's product review mentioned this aspect, of what otherwise looks like a superb tripod at a relatively reasonable price point.

I think it's fairly secure. Even if the lever that tightens down the leveling base is completely loosensed, if a head and camera are attached, the base simply can not come out. The only way it could is if the apex of the tripod actually broke in two. It's hard to imagine that happening without an epic impact that would long render the camera and lens in pieces before that happened.
