Fuji just announced an update to what has long been my favorite APS-C mirrorless camera from a form and function standpoint (even though I am on record as hating the X-Trans color array and this keeps me from actually buying into this system).  The new X-T3 with a 26 (!) megapixel sensor that can shoot at 30 frames per second in a 1.25x crop mode or 20 FPS with the full sensor and no viewfinder blackout between frames.  The Fuji lens system is hands down the very best APS-C lens system on the market.  You can see how the new camera compares to the X-T2 and X-H1 here:

got an email from Adorama calling it a "fullframe" camera

Pretty sure the full frame sensor only exists in their typo

It's not, Fuji does not make 135 format cameras at all, they make APS C and cropped medium format (44x33)

Really surprised there isn't more interest in these Fuji bodies.  Here's a thorough article:

If they ever offer the X-T with a Bayer sensor, I'd likely buy it.

E.J., would you expand on your comments concerning the X-Trans color array and add why you dislike it so? Is there an actual real world difference you can see with your eyes; i.e. color not accurate, etc.? Please do try to "dumb it down" so I can understand it. Many thanks!

It provides essentially none of the benefits in real world shooting that Fuji touts while losing a stop of light (now just 2/3 with the new X-T3) and most RAW converters have a very difficult time extracting everything in the files out of them. Only the super crappy one that ships with the camera and Capture One even come close. It's mostly a gimmick in my eyes.

But the JPEG straight out of the camera are pretty darn good.... I always shoot RAW+JPEG and for street photography, family portraits I most of the time just end up using JPEG...

Agreed, if you are a JPEG shooter, there simply is nothing better on the market, nothing! But I don't shoot in JPEG format for what I do.

I don't think this is true, but hard to test.
You can't go by the stated ISO: Fuji uses SOS, and the REI that other manufacturers use can be ambiguous.
Firstly you would have to compare Fuji and another camera using the same T stop, and
secondly, since Fuji tags its raw files to adjust the exposure down, you would need to match the exposures in a raw converter and then compare them. The only reference I can find is at: https://photographylife.com/does-fuji-c ... ts-sensors
As to X-trans vs bayer, I've used both in the 16mp versions of Fuji cameras with the same lens, and would give it to the X-Trans for detail. However although quite visible, the difference wasn't huge and I think I could match them with the good sharpening software. I can't comment on moire reduction between the two sensors, as I don't photograph subjects where that is an issue.
I agree that raw conversion can be a problem. I use Lightroom for files where the output is for the web, and Iridient X-Transformer for files destined for print.

I guess I should have been more clear. For me, slow shutter speeds are everything, one of the reasons that one of my primary landscape cameras has a native ISO of 50 and I have considered switching the sensor on it to one whose native ISO is 35!

On the Fuji X-trans cameras, sure, I could overexpose to what the camera's blinkies, zebras, histogram, etc say by a stop to get a similar outcome as a camera whose native ISO is 100 at the same shutter speed but why would I want to look at the EVF and LCD and see blown out images when they aren't. My point is that there is very little benefit of how Fuji handles it's X-trans cameras and the way it handles it's ISO ratings, at least none for what I do and simply wish they had Bayer array versions of those cameras. I am unconvinced from a number of tests that it's enough better on moire to justify it either, especially as the resolution gets higher. I am so happy that they did not laden their medium format systems with the X-trans array. The GFX is a great camera with crappy AF but that will be fixed in the GFX-100S. then the only issue left for me will be the lack of support by Capture One but I am hopeful on this front since Phase One has gotten out of the cropped medium format sensor market so there is no longer direct competition.

I think I've got what you mean. You want the slowest shutter speed you can get without using an ND filter. Fair enough.

For those wondering about the Fuji iso, I tried the following unscientific test. I shot a subject with a Canon 7D and 24-105 lens at 100 iso and f4, and the same subject with a Fuji X-T2 and 50-140 lens at 200 iso and F4.
The shutter speeds were identical.
If anyone knows of a link where this has been done properly with lenses with T stops I'd be a bit interested. It's a little esoteric. We're all trying to get the best out of the equipment we've got. For me the change from Canon to Fuji some years ago was all about going mirrorless. It really has been a huge advantage for my type of work.

A superb camera, I would own one if it had a Bayer sensor. DPReview just published their complete review:

Businesses are littered with bodies of people that said "never"  :D

But for now, I think it's a decent strategy for them.  They have what is easily the best APS-C camera and lenses and the only APS-C system that is in the same league as other full frame systems.  Personally I wish they'd ditch X-trans though.  And on the Medium Format side, they have the best compromise between a full featured 135 format experience with a larger sensor and the lenses, while still limited in selection, are absolutely superb.  I thought the Schneider Kreuznach 40-80 (25-50 FF equiv) was exceptional until I used the Fujifilm 34-64 (also 25-50 equivalent).  Their new 250mm (200mm equiv) is nothing short of phenomenal as are all of the lenses in the system.  They very much need a tele-zoom and have announced one but with no release date.  The GFX system is really very good and now they have introduced a lighter rangefinder style camera and will ship a 100 megapixel beast next year with a modern full featured 44x33 sensor with Phase detect and all the goodies we expect from a full frame 135 camera in a 44x33 camera.

This is interesting E.J.. Would you add it to your current systems, or switch to it and ditch your current APS-C setup?

Probably be an add-on as my current APS-C system is purely for wildlife (D500, 180-400, 500PF...)

E.J., to your knowledge, is Fuji solidly sold on the X-Trans array or do you think, or have you heard, of any possibility of them perhaps converting to Bayer, or even offering both and allowing the consumer to decide?
