Sure he’s one of better ones on YouTube but they’re all after one thing and one thing alone. Clicks on their channel. I’ve lost interest in anything they say now. Say something sensational, click, click, click.

Another Z7 AF test:

Nikon Z7 | Panasonic GH5 | AF Test | N-Log | 4K

May be he doesn't want to be labelled as a naysayer and so, he let the viewers be the judge.

I'd say Nikon wins this one.

Errr...why is it a "horrible" review, Mike ?? Any facts and objective reasoning behind your conclusion about that review, that it's a horrible review? Based on your personal experience of the camera, which part of Brad Hill's review and his understanding of the camera is wrong? How about a review from you, Mike??
Coming late to this one guys, and apologies for that but having read the review, top to bottom, I just cannot see how it can be conceived as a horrible review.

Brad is one of the guys I tend to trust and respect as his reviews are based mainly on what he needs for his own business.

ref;  Point 7.  AF.  quote.  "in most modes it is very fast, acceptable for panning, and -used correctly - it is deadly accurate".  worth reading the rest there.

Go to point 9 for VR ... 6 for Battery life.  13 for that single card slot issue.... 5 for the EVF.

And of course his initial comments that whilst it does not compete with his D5 it does against the D850 and has openly admitted he likes it a lot and is likely to replace his D850.

There you go.  One that used it for three weeks..  5000 images...

Might just be seen as a more meaningful input than those that "rushed" to get their review on youtube.

DPreview has this to say about suggested areas of improvement for the z7:

But some people will still be in denial of its’ shortcomings!

Imaging Resources review of Z7:

To me, the chipmunk and heron photos taken with 200-500 are not acceptable. The focus don't seem to be there at all. Photographs taken with Z lens are much better understandably. Perhaps it's their way to tell us: "Use only the Z lenses." :)

This is one of my favorite technical blogs in the photo world. There are a number of posts on the Z7 if you want to delve deeply into this camera:

What a POS the Z7 is, totally useless. What with lackluster lenses, crappy focus, too light, too small,  crappy build quality, that’s it for me.

What ever were Nikon thinking.

I suggest everyone go out and buy a nice Zenit, now there’s a great camera. Got to hand it to those Russians, they know how to build great cameras.

Not sure where you are going with this and what the point of this post is?

This is easily the most complete and informative review I've seen on the Z7:
https://photographylife.com/reviews/nikon-z7

A link may have been posted earlier in this thread but the review has been significantly updated.

EJ, thanks for posting this link. I read it and it is a very detailed review as you said. One possible solution to the acra swiss camera plate for the camera issue mentioned in the report, is the Wimberley universal camera plate where the screw can be adjusted from its center position. I am not sure if this would fully resolve the issues mentioned in the review.

Indeed it's an excellent review of the Z7 ...
" the autofocus system is something Nikon should definitely focus on in order to be able to compete with other mirrorless systems on the market – it leaves a lot to be desired for tracking moving subjects. While we found autofocus performance to be excellent and reliable for still subjects, it is sometimes unusable for continuous focusing. "

Will wait for the Mk II ;-)

Another poor opinion of the auto focus under real world conditions in low light. It is part of an interesting story about the California wildfires.

Well, it looks like Nikon limped this one, hopefully the next version will be better.  I'm beginning to lose hope that Nikon can ever get a handle on AF.  So Canon has the AF but a crappy sensor and Nikon has what appears to be a pretty good sensor but a crappy AF system.  Perhaps Canon and Nikon can pair up as Ford and Chevy did when they designed new 9-speed and 10-speed transmissions -- I won't hold my breath.

Looks like Sony's going to have some more time before the other two catch up.
