Anyone have any experience with these newer CFast Cards from ProGrade?  Much less expensive than the Sandisk but not worth it if they are problematic.

Weird, I responded to this but for some reason it never posted.

ProGrade is a new premium card company founded by an former Sandisk Exec and a former Lexar exec. I have already established a relationship with them and am testing their SD cards and card reader right now. I don't have a CFast camera but if I did I would have no hesitation with their cards. I am now using their top spec SD cards and am very pleased with their performance. My only gripe is that they do not make XQD cards but they will be making CF Express cards in the future...

Oh, thanks E.J. I had read about them being former Sandisk/Lexar execs but still good to hear some first hand info about them. They look very attractive spec wise and price wise.

You might also look at EgoDisk cards. A number of Canon video folks use them in their 4K cameras with no issues.

My recent purchase and experience with the ProGrade SD V90, 128GB card and the companion ProGrade USB 3.1 Gen 2 dual-slot card reader, transfer rate performance is less than expected for whatever reason, actually slower than the same SD card transferring through two different Lexar readers!

ProGrade Reader is plugged into USB 3.1 computer workstation port with ProGrade's supplied Type C cable

Two issues:
  1.  Reader gets noticeably warm when it's simply plugged in, sitting unused

  2.  ProGrade reader is slowest of three, transfer speed averages 190MB/s with USB 3.1 port

Same card and files transfer at an average speed of 240MB/s using a Lexar 400, 3.0 reader plugged into a USB 3.0 port (Lexar dual-slot Model: LRW400U Rev A)

Same card and files transfer at an average speed of 225MB/s using a Lexar LRWM04U-70000 Rev AR, UHS-II SD reader plugged into a different USB 3.0 port. (Files transfer to a Samsung SSD 850 512GB hard drive)

No update drivers available on the ProGrade website. Query to their tech support - no response so far.

It could be your USB 3.1 port is getting throttled due to having a USB 3.0 device or port hooked to the same hub. That is generally what causes results like what you saw when 3.1 Type C doesn't perform as expected.
