That's a medium format camera.

So why are you comparing medium format to 35 mm full frame ?

Who said I was comparing?  They both are dslrs and the comment was made by the OP that the 850 was the 1st dslr to get to 100 (kudos to Nikon for putting out a great stills camera).

What ?
To what you said that Pentax had 101 knowing that one has different size sensor then the other.
Am I missing something here ?

PS.btw can you post link to that Pentax scoring page ?

As far as I can tell score for Pentax 645Z doesn't exist on DXOmark website.

I posted nothing more than what DXO said as their headline for the story. Please show us where the Pentax has a 101 sensor score on DXO. Very confused at your comment, sorry.

You didn't provide link for DXOmark Pentax 645Z sensor score page or any other Pentax 645 model with 101 score.

When I click on the link it shows DXO Mark score of 101 for the 645z to be 101...because it is an old score, maybe DXO removed the whole test because new sensors were being evaluated (take that bit of wisdom and accept that the 850 is not the highest scoring DSLR)

OK, lets stop this bickering please!  The D850 is the highest scoring 135 format sensor to date.  Larger formats may have higher scores for several reasons even if the sensor is a generation or more older.

Stop comparing apples to oranges.

PS. I'm sorry E.J but I think that copying and pasting stuff from other sites blog entries can usually spread more misinformation than information. If official text says one thing and some blog posts say otherwise I'd think one should at least do some minimal check (takes few seconds at google website) before just pasting stuff here. It doesn't help.

I was referring to comments that demean the person that they are responding to not to the comments or comparison links from other sites.  My second sentence was merely grounding an established fact.  I'm not sure I understand why there are even attacks back and forth about this.

It has now been confirmed through tear-down that the sensor in the D850 is a Sony sensor. A Sony model number is clearly etched onto the sensor frame. While Nikon calls it a Nikon sensor, clearly Nikon had a hand in designing it but it is a Sony manufactured sensor which explains why it is such an incredible performer. There is still nobody that can touch Sony in Sensor technology. There are a couple of others trying and doing a great job including Israel's Tower Jazz and Austria's CMOSIS (mostly industrial sensors), but Sony still holds the lead when it comes to outright image quality, dynamic range, and all of the things that photographers look for..
