Just wondering whether anyone has experience with the different Canon Service Centres. I am thinking of sending all my gear in for a check up also detailed calibration especially of the long lenses. E.J. suggested New Jersey was best for that. The guy at Canon said all the service centres are good (what else is he going to say?) and California is the closest centre to me. So if California is just as good as NJ, that would mean less travel time and less shipping cost for me.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

I agree Newport News is good.  I never tried NJ, due to feedback, even though I lived there for a period of time.

I had a bad experience with Canon Newport News and now send my gear to New Jersey.  All's well there, so far.

I've used both over the years and I've been happy. NJ is the older and I figure had the more experienced tech's but VA has been open long enough that I would think that advantage may not be as much as it once was.

All of my gear goes to NJ due to proximity. I have had good results and no issues so far.

Anyone have experience with the service centres in California?

I have good experience at Canon in Jamesburg, NJ, but for people in NYC who wish to bring in their gear, there is a closer facility in Lyndhurst, NJ. Also, while sending your gear to any Canon facility, it is possible it will be forwarded to another facility if it is special equipment or a unique issue or recall.
