Most pocketable point and shoots that produce quality files offer lenses more in the 24-70 range. I can highly recommend the Sony RX100 series of cameras in that genre. To go longer, you are usually looking at bigger cameras like the super zooms or cameras with tiny sensors that don't give you great image quality. The 1" sensor cameras are the best compromise between image quality and pocketable size.

Here is a recent buyers guide for the pocketable quality cameras that DPReview did:

I enjoy using my Canon G7XII. It's a once inch sensor compact with a 24-100mm lens. It shoots RAW. Unless I am mistaken, the sensor is made by Sony.

I have used it below 100 feet (in a housing, of course) and "topside" with good results, although I haven't made prints larger than 8X12 with it.

I find the point and shoots difficult to operate because of their size, small buttons, etc.
Maybe something to consider...
