I should receive my Sigma 24-35 f2 lens next week and I am wondering if people bother fine tuning wide angle lenses? If yes, which focal length would you do it at and from what distance? I also just purchased a used D810 so that is the body I will be using it with.

Yes and you should do it with the dock so that it can be tuned at all focal lengths and shooting distances. Also be aware that almost all lenses this fast exhibit a bit of focus shift so if you tune it at f/2 it is likely to be off a little at slower apertures. Tuning it at f/2.8 is probably a better bet.

Thanks EJ. . . . . will do it at f2.8. Let's assume I don't have the Dock (which I don't) or don't even have a Sigma lens, which focal length would you do it at then?

The longest focal length is generally what you use for a Nikon camera which only allows a single AF calibration point.

Thanks . . . . . . will do. I will look at possibly getting the Dock at a later date if my calibration at 35mm does not suffice.

From what distance would you do it?

About 1 meter, 1.5-2 meters if you have the long ruler.

Thanks EJ

I have the short version of the Lens Align, but I tend to still use FoCal more often. I will try it this time with Lens Align.
