I've had the D850 for couple of weeks and am enjoying but miss having an L-bracket. I've always purchased from RRS but theirs is about 6 weeks out.
Any suggestions for something that might be available now or soon?
Thanks

Here's what one person said about the D810 bracket:

Edit 9/23/2017:  For some reason, the link changed. Here is the right page:

Here you go.  These guys make outstanding stuff.  you may not have heard of them because they work mostly in the film industry but their stuff is first rate and they are usually first to the party with new brackets:
http://www.promediagear.com/D850_c_105.html

They appear to be out but give them a call.  these folks go way above and beyond to get you stuff as soon as humanly possible. When the film industry needs something, they usually need it yesterday...

I had not even coincided the D850 would need a new L-bracket versus the D800E -- I know the grip side was changed a bit but didn't think the connector side was all that different. Is it a mechanical thing or is the cabling enough different that the cutouts for the cables is the driver of the difference?

Tilt screen alone would likely change the geometry enough to need a different L-bracket.

OK, I can see that as a possibility...

If I do pick up the D850 I may look to see if my RRS L-bracket for one of my D800E's can be modified instead of buying a new L-bracket.

I'm using the RRS BD500-L bracket taken from my D500. It's working perfectly.

Does it allow unrestricted access to all of the ports and doors on the sides?

Pretty much. The Top Microphone and Earphone port is not fully open but being rubber it's still perfectly accessible.

I measured the center of the mounting hole in the D500 base and compared it to the D850, theres probably a 0.75mm difference.

I tried my Markins D800e bracket on the D850.  The 1/4-20 hole is in the wrong location, so it will not mount properly.

Ah, OK, so that's pretty much the problem as the RRS L-bracket has a lip on it that would potentially interfere with a different position 1/4-20.  Still want to give a look at it before buying a new bracket.

Does this fit on the camera with the Battery Grip attached?

Sandy .

No, even for the D500, if you attach the grip you need a different L-bracket:

RRS is also coming out with an ultralight D850 L-bracket at nearly half the weight of the L-set:

Comparison:

I think most people use the Ultralight brackets anyways.

Boy, I thought my L bracket for the 99II was expensive, $20 more for the 850...one thing nice is the 850 will have cheap ones coming from China, not so with the 99II.
