There are situations where i am using up to 10 flashes on a project and I have been using the Yongnuo brand. They do a great job, but even though I turn off the sleep mode, the flashes will turn off if not fired within 30 minutes. Not practical for a shooting project that you need to leave them for extended periods of time. I know my Nikon flashes will not turn off, but I dont want the huge investment in multiple Nikons just for that feature. Do any of you know a reasonable priced flash that will not turn off when left over 30mins? I don't need TTL. I shoot in manual.

Alan, see if you can grab a few Nikon SB-24 units. Should be able to find them used for between $40 and $75. Look on Amazon, eBay, etc.

I'm sure you have read the instruction manual already but, you may want to double check it. Here is a bit of info about the modes on one model, which may or may not apply:

What are you using to trigger the flashes, If you use something good and cheap like the Flashpoint camera trigger will they not wake the flash up when you touch the camera shutter?

Alan,

Did you come up with a solution to your problem?  I do hummingbird strobe photography with a bunch of Yongnuo flashes that I've turned off power save mode, but as you noted, these flashes automatically power down after 30 minutes of inactivity.  I try to avoid the auto-power down by trying to remember to fire them off at least once during inactive periods, but I invariably forget.  So, I'll be interested if you find a more robust solution.  Thanks.

Best regards,
