Does any one here use led panels for macro photography? Would something like the link below work well as a continuous light for macro?

It seems to offer a controlled variable light option and would be good for doing macro videos as well as still images.

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

I use a Mosaic VB-1400 occasionally. It has a shoe mount but I hand-hold it to get the right angle. For an inexpensive light it is pretty bright (adjustable intensity) and I'm pleased with it. I do use the diffuser cover that came with it all the time.

The Limelight US site for the 1400 is no longer on line and B-H has a flag on the product as discontinued and also had a special order flag so maybe they had remaining stock.

The Manfrotto product runs on three AAA batteries, I'd ask about battery life with all of those LEDs in the panel. No worry about LED flicker.

The Limelight Mosaic VB1400 had an available power adapter to supply DC to the panel, necessary to prevent LED flicker.

I was just curious about the product.

Thanks for the replies so far.

The led I linked to does not have a diffuser pannel so maybe I need to keep looking. I would be using rechargable batteries so I think most seem to go for a hour at least on the batteries.

Thank you Mike. That was very helpful. Need to find a supplier here in Australia now.
