Is there any reason not to get the "M" version of the Sony XQD card for use with a D500? I know the write speeds are significantly lower than the "G" version, but for average usage can I assume the "M" cards are just fine?

Thanks EJ . . . . . . what cards do you use in your D500?

When I use the XQD slot on my D500, I'm using some of the older 'H' cards that I had when the QXD cards first came out. If I were buying new, I'd get the faster card on the principle that if I'm going to use that slot, I'm doing it to get the most speed possible out of it. And the faster card would be faster in any newer cameras that are likely to come out if Nikon continues to use that slot type.

When I'm not in a rush, I'm using my standby SD cards, the Sandisk extreme Pro's for the D500. After all, when traveling, I have other cameras that use those cards and I have a built in SD card reader in my laptop. Until that changes, I tend to only us SD cards when traveling.

As I said in your earlier thread about this, I don't use the SQD cards.
