Hi everyone.

This is the moment I have been waiting for for years now - a new Nikon 200-400mm f/4 lens (the mark III, effectively) is rumoured to be coming end of this year.

Just like the Canon 200-400mm, it will boast a 1.4x teleconverter built-in. That's as impressive as it was when Canon first brought the idea into stills lenses, but Nikon has only now responded.

The current 200-400mm is 7 years old, so an update is due.

What do we think? No doubt it'll have the $11,000+ price tag to match Canon, but they key thing is will there be any extra features that take it a step above Canon?

Or maybe Nikon will be playing catch up.

Ditto - still a rumour at the moment - so we'll have to wait and see.
Too short for most EU wildlife - but I could imagine it will be great when subjects are closer.
Personally I'm hoping they will release a light weight and compact 500mm or 600mm PF lens.

I'd love that. I tried the Canon 500mm I think it was. SO light?!

We don't do rumors on NSN - we leave that to the rumor sites. The thread will be locked but not deleted.
