I am trying to update several Sony lenses with the firmware released today.

I have followed all the instructions, put the A7R2 (and the 6500) in mass storage usb mode, fired up the firmware updater and the camera connects to the computer (MacBook pro running 10.12.5) and the updater fails.  It sends a message "could not update".  Yes, the batteries in the cameras are freshly charged.

Any help appreciated.

Are you using the USB cable that can with the camera?
I had trouble updating my Sony a7R when not using the Sony USB cable.

Macs have always been a little shaky with the FW update. If you have a PC that you can use, it is likely that will work better.

Thanks,
I was able to get it to work with the 3rd computer I tried, an older iMac.
