After my camera hit my tripod during full swing I need to replace
front plastic ring (one which covers front lens group) on my Tamron 150-600 (original 1st version)
Sony mount lens. I'd imagine that part is most likely the same for all mounts.
Does anyone know part number and where I can get it from ?

Thanks

It might be worth sending it to Tamron for repairs, if you haven't seen this advisory yet:

I just got reply from Tamron service.
"...The typical repair cost for this lens would be about $225 although our technicians would determine the final cost..."

I don't know if they charge flat fee no matter what kind of repair but this is insane.
25% of full value for replacing stupid little plastic ring ?!
Unbelievable.

The tech's time is worth money whether he replaces tape or rebuilds the lens...probably the paper work takes more time than fixing.

Not that kind of money. Part is probably $10 and then you have to remove 4 Torx 4 screws.
5 min job ka-ching !

Looks like it's a theme with corporations nowadays.
Same with Apple. Trying to repair something is usually not worth the money.
Just buy,buy,buy. What a waste.

This why it is really important that companies support 3rd party repair outfits and not look at OEM repair facilities as a profit center...here's looking at you Nikon.

I don't know about photo companies but in case of Apple I know that they're very much opposing
3rd party repair centers and even undermining any legislative steps (which would support independent repair centers), they can sniff beforehand.
I thought I read some time ago in Popular Photography that there's a law passed forcing photo companies to sell parts to customers ?
Anybody heard anything about it ?

Update:

Looks like not everything is bad after all.
I was able to get a contact to parts department and even though part
is backordered I should spend no more than $20.
