I have decided that I want to get further into Hummingbird photography and am looking at buying a 4 flash setup to go with my Nikon D4. As the D4 doesn't have a built in flash I'm assuming I will need a flash trigger to go on the camera. What setup would you recommend? Nikon flashes are out of my price range so what else have you used with good results?

Thanks
Rich

Any of the triggers like the Photix sold for a very reasonable cost here on NSN will work well.

Thanks EJ. On the links that Joe gave they seem to mention Yongnuo units. I went to Yongnuo and found several trigger and flash units that seem like they would work quite well. The set with 3 Yongnuo 560iv flash units and a 560TX on camera transmitter seemed like it would work well, does anyone here use this setup?

Thanks Again
Rich

I use four Yongnuo YN 560-II flash units and the Cowboy Studio 4-channel wireless triggers for my hummingbird flash photography setup.

Thanks, I ordered 4 Yongnuo 560iv flashes and a 560TX transmitter today, I'm looking forward to having a better Hummer setup.

I use the Yongnuo 560iii flashes with a 560TX transmitter for multiple flash setups in my Costa Rica workshops. No complaints at all. They're a real bargain and they work great! The only difference between the iv and the iii is that the iv has transmitter functionality while the iii is a receiver only.

Thanks Doug, it's good to hear that they have stood up to workshop use. I received them on Friday and started playing with them yesterday, I can see that I will have to buy an extra set of batteries (18) so I won't have to stop shooting when the first sets get depleted. I've got a lot to learn about flash placement !
