I'm looking for a long strap for Sigma 300-800mm lens-preferably adjustable. One which is included is quite short.
I was looking at Nikon LN-2 but nobody lists the length of this strap.

Do you guys know of any good long adjustable straps which would be good for carrying scrap metal ?
:-)

Thanks

Not sure if these will work for you, but here are two suggestions:

I use a Black Rapid Sport Strap for my 500mm f4 lens. I added an arca swiss clamp to it. I believe this is the current model. I wear mine over my left shoulder as I am right handed.

Another option is the Kirk Long lens strap that comes with an arca swiss clamp. To use the clamp feature the Sigma lens would have to have an ara swiss lens plate attached to the tripod collar foot.

I use what Photoman4343 suggests (black rapid, arca swiss plate, etc).  I use this for hand holding and carring around 200-400mm zoom and 80-400mm zoom.  Really like it.
The down side is removing the quick clip screwing ring in order to tripod mount.  I added a long arca-swiss plate to the foot and it allow me to just clamp the lens to my tripod and be reasonably balanced and secure.

Just got a 600mm and it came with a LN-2 strap. Overall length folded in half  attached to the lens is 22".  Estimated end to end length about 54 inches.  By the time to attach to lens you get about 22-24 max loop.  Can be adjusted shorter but will be snug on me.  I haven't tried the black rapid setup yet.  I will have something worked out as I will definitely want a safety lanyard to avoid a major catastrohe.

Another vote for the Black Rapid Strap whch I use to carry my Canon 500 f4 with body attached. You might find this link helpful.

Make sure you use the OpTech Uni Loop as insurance !

Also if you do a search I believe this topic has come up before on Naturescapes. e.g.

This is one of the arca swiss clamps that can be used with the Black Rapid Strap. You screw in the black rapid fastener to the bottom of the clamp and then clip it to the BR strap. If you want a more robust clamp, you can get one from Wimberley or other companies.

I like the idea in the article posted above about the Uni Loop as insurance.

I have been following this thread with interest because I am trying to find a solution to carrying my 200-400VR lens and body in the field. I came across a company called "Magpul", they make rifle slings which have a very interesting quick detach swivel that can be adapted for photography applications. I see that RRS has them at their site and recommend them -http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/BQDS-Pl ... rap-Swivel
I have no personal experience with Magpul, but the swivel prevents loosening. I would be interested to hear if anyone has used the Magpul/RRS system, or has any opinions on this option. (RRS also sells the B2-FABN -Micro Clamp with QD Socket, which seems to be a solution to using the Magpul Strap with existing long lens Arca Swiss Plates).

From my own experience I would still recommend the Black Rapid Sport as I find the under arm strap makes carrying the lens/body any distance much more comfortable and keeps the whole set up more stable. The Magpul seems to lack that feature.

I have an old Black Rapid and want another. Seems now there are Sport, Sport Extreme, Sport Breath, and the RS-2 Sport 2. I haven't seen any comparisons between the versions. Any advice? The last one is the one available here on NS and always a top choice of supplies.
