Speedlite Master/Slave settin problem

Setup: A 580exii set to master, ch1, Ratio=A:B 1:2, ETTL. A 550EX set to ETTL, slave (switch at bottom), Ch1, Slave, group B.

Problem: When Master fires, the slave does not fire, but a second or so later what looks like a modeling light fires. I've tried several different settings on each unit without success. I have used these units successfully before as Master & Slave.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I was planning on using two speedlites to expose our Thanksgiving dinner gathering. One lite will work, but not as well as with two.

Thanksgiving has obviously come and gone, but I still can not get the Canon 55EX slave to sync with the 580EXII. I've read both manuals, but I must be overlooking something. Any suggestions?
