OK, we don';t usually announce a lot of Leica stuff here because, quite frankly, we have nobody posting pictures in the forums that use Leica equipment and a general dis-interest on NSN in this premium brand.  But I couldn't resist posting this one since they just brought back an over 80 year old lens, one that I restored and own.  Here is the DPR announcement of the lens:

I have the original version from 1936 when it still had a screw mount...

I would love for Canon to come up with some small lenses like this, maybe a bit wider like the Voigtlander E-mount lenses. Or maybe I will end up with another Sony body at some point :)

I can appreciate liking old things but the people that are nostalgic for the retro look are getting towards planting time (including me), I wish Leica was trying to innovate instead of making cameras with gray paint or wrapping ping pong paddles on their surfaces.

The whole lens fits inside the Canon mount!

And here it is compared to the Sony full frame E-mount 28mm - the smallest Sony full frame lens made.  Both full frame 28mm lenses!

And here it is mounted on the Sony a7R Mk II mounted with a Fotodiox Leica M39 mount to Sony FE adapter:

OK, I realize I'm probably just entertaining myself at this point but if you want a super tiny yet highly capable set-up, you could get this new Leica 28mm Summaron and pair it with a Sony a6000/a6300/a6500 and any Leica M-mount to Sony E-mount adapter and up with something that looks like this.  On the a6500 it would even be image stabilized...

Finally, a picture I just took in my backyard with the Sony a6300 and this 1936 Leica Summaron 28mm lens - it's pretty low in contrast and highly flare prone which I am sure the new lens won't have problems with (it does cost a crazy $2000 after all ;) )

Unlike a6000 Sony a3600 image sensor seems to have solved the corner smear problem when using with Leica M wide-angle lenses wider than 35mm.
Is this so?

That was much more of an a7 Mk I series problem than it was an a6000 problem.  But yes, Sony has redesigned the microlenses to minimize problems like that.
