Hello all, right now im using a Manfrotto 190xprob and i dont really like it a whole lot.

What im looking for:
No Center Column\
height to go about 5 feet
ground level option (90* folding legs)
Not worried about material right now.
turnable leg locks (not a huge issue but i want these)
Between 200-300$ Cnd!
Gitzo is out of my price range unless you state otherwise

Thank you!

A Velbon tripod might fit the bill...I've had carbon fibre ones in the past similar to what you describe that were in the $300-350 range. I had to saw off the center column, but that's a piece of cake to do or get done.

I suggest you look up Feisol tripods at http://www.feisol.net. However, what is what you don't like about your tripod? I was eying it....

I too say Fiesol. Free shipping at the moment- can't beat the price.

I have been using the Feisol CT 3371 with my D300 and Nikon 500 f/4 setup and love it. I have a small review with images on my blog, www.naturesportal.blogspot.com .

Thanks, got showed Feisol on another forum, Definitely ordering one soon, Looking at the CT-3401.

The reason i dont like my 190 is mainly the center column and leg locks. Its a sturdy tripod, but when working low in a river the horizontal column doesnt sit well with me for some reason.

Check out the deals at the Bogen Imaging store. A Gitzo 1340 3 section tripod meets all your requirements (legs go to 80 not 90) for about $270 CAN + shipping. A friend recently purchased this tripod from the Bogen Store and loves it. Link: http://www.bogenimagingstore.us/servlet ... ies/Detail
