Most insects are best found and photographed at night. This was taken in my back field last July just after midnight. It is about 100 frames stacked in Helicon Focus. They hunt at night.  Imagine being a small creature down in the grass that this beetle was preying on!

Brilliant details Tim. I'd be thankful not to be their prey as well.

I'd rather not imagine being this fierce looking beetle's prey! Amazing that you were able to capture this night -dwelling, ferocious critter.

The lighting gives no hint that it’s a night image. Excellent stacked details.
