Last year we had an outbreak of this species in the Oak Bay area.  It was a great opportunity to get images of a very colourful moth species, in a natural habitat.

Oh, Wow! Gorgeous moth! Such a perfect shot too. Wonderful detail and color. How big is it?

Thanks Cynthia

In this image the wing tips are probably about 6 to 7 cm across.  They are a fairly large moth and not nocturnal.  The fly during the daylight.

I don't think I have ever seen a moth with such beautiful colours before- the butterfly species are usually photographed more often, but this moth is certainly on par with many attractive butterflies, Tim. Wonderful image!
