The Giant Swallowtail Butterfly, is a very uncommon species here in Canada,
being restricted to a small area of  Southern Ontario. I've seen a few over the years, but never able to photograph one. This individual was photographed during a morning of Hummingbird photography, when it landed on this Cone flower. This is North America's largest butterfly, and quite nicely marked and coloured- a late Summer image.

Province of Ontario, Canada, image - August 18, 2024.
Thanks to everyone for viewing.

You must be very pleased with this discovery, Paul and an excellent capture. So nice to see on a cone flower too.

Really nice detail, Paul.  We have them down here in Corning NY, but often times they are not perfect specimens.
