A close-up look at the eye of the Eurasion Collared Dove taken in my front yard on 19 August 2024.  1/1000 sec, f/6.3, iso 200, 90 mm macro lens.  This is a full-frame image.  Looks a little better viewed large.

Wow- intense. It must have been pretty tame. That's quite some red color.

Cynthia, This was a wild bird.  Unfortunately, it was sick and could not fly.  My neighbor and I are doing everything we can to bring it back to health.  For me, looking at the eye in the large view is almost hypnotizing.

Awesome to be so close to the bird. The ones here where I live would never let me get that close and I would need a 600 + extender to get a similar shot and the crop it.
Amazing detail.
