Took a shot of this butterfly five years ago.  Thought it looks quite nice in the late afternoon light.

60D, 180T, f5.6, 1/3200 sec, spot metering, no flash, handhold, generously cropped.

The butterfly guide describes the Burmese Lascar as having " the habit of venturing to the ground level along forest trails or clearings. However, when disturbed, it would quickly flitter up into the safety of the forest canopy".
I guess that explains this being more of an environmental shot.

Comments welcomed.

Gorgeous! Love the luminous section just behind the head- well seen in the sunlight.

Thanks everyone for the comments!

It's true the subject of this type at certain times of day will not be static and indeed we have to take what is available. The alternative is missing out totally.

Keep shooting!
