Z9 and 105 2.8 D Micro Nikkor in manual focus.  1/320 F4 at 400ISO.  Always thought Aphids and the little critters were black... 

This Ant's duty it seemed was to keep an eye on this flock.aka dairy farmer...  (Ant's do love a bit of Sugar and the Aphids seem happy to provide honeydew which does seem to please the ants)...

Fine behavior image. I’ve seen red aphids, so there’s a variety of colors.

Well spotted and captured, Dave! The wasps do love to milk their little aphids to make them excrete more honeydew, and this one is certainly being very attentive to its little flock. Excellent capture of this interaction/behaviour!

Excellent document, ants defend aphids especially from ladybugs. In order to receive juice ants stress the abdomen of aphids... :wink:
