Ophrys elatior

Last ophrys orchid of this season, O. elatior, a unique late spider orchid variant. Under milder conditions they can flower till mid July - but with this scorching weather we had to search shady crevices to find a single plant.

Composite image merged from 8K video file.
Several faded flower buds were cloned out in PS.

As mentioned, this is a composite image merged together from a number of individual images, each differing by a slight amount in the focal plane. I've found that if conditions are tricky ie windy, it is quicker and easier to collect these focal plane slices as a video file. These can then be separated into individual frames and merged using Helicon Focus.
