I always had a problem with these guys to see them special when when the like to sit on tree trunk  the blend very well thanks to their special color . A method i was use is to follow them when they was fly  and when they was sit on the tree (trees is their favorite ) i was try to get closer slowly and the same time to change the aperure . As closer i was goin i was close  more aperture . If i had my 180 macro lens with me it was better .  They are very sensitive  in moves and special in noise . A lot times from a broken dry branch on they gound they was fly away . Here i was lucky and this guy came on  the broken tree trunk or branch .

Fine capture, nice pose. I’ve similar problems with butterflies in this group, very flighty. I remember that flash seemed to trigger flight.

Good work catching this one! I like the "eye" on the wing.

You should tell this one to find a better colour perch for camouflage! Well done to get such a nice image before it flew away.
