Elbow Orchid Thynniorchis huntiana
One of the strangest orchids around, the elbow orchid is leafless and most of the year exists as an underground tuber and puts up a this tiny flower in late spring. The labellum on the right is an imitation wasp and when the male wasp tries to fly off with it to mate, it swings on the elbow hitting the pollinia in centre frame. This is about half life size and the labellum maybe 6-8mm long. 20 frame stack in Helicon focus for depth of field, about the limit with the breeze, I'll have to go back next year to try for a deeper stack.
