Copper Beard Orchid  Calochilus campestris

Quite a few copper beard orchids flowering at the moment, they are quite a robust plant, I found one with the stem about 900mm high, but the flowers are quite small, about 25-30mm in height.  Related to sun orchids they open wide in hot weather and are pollinated by wasps that try to mate with the labellum.  Stack of 24 images in Helicon focus.

Striking portrait - looks like alien - the orchid from outer space.
Thanks for sharing this unusual species - really unique.
Superb stacked detail - the Oly really excels at that.
Really appreciate your continuing series!
Good hunting.

I think all the little orchid folk are fascinating, but this one is amazing! I think Snow White has lost one of the dwarfs, Chris. Wonderful image once again!

What a face! Your orchids have such character, not to mention excellent resolution and composition.
