This is one of my favorite wildflowers in my area and by far my favorite at the time it blooms in the late Summer through the Fall. They are not very common but where they do grow they are usually in groupings.  They only unfurl in response to sunlight so on cloudy days or in shade they remain mostly closed. I was attracted to this pair as the back lighting made for an interesting natural glow against the shadowy background.

Gorgeous shot, Warren. I really like the lighting and the shadows it makes. A lovely find too- have never seen them here-only the bottle gentian.
