ISO 400, 1/1600s. F 8.0

This is a Painted Lady butterfly from a couple of summers ago. I couldn't quite get the edges of the wings totally sharp as a result of having to hand hold the 200 macro lens that does not have vibration reduction. Keeping the shutter speed high enough for best overall sharpness somewhat limited the DOF. Very much a compromise as in many images. In any event, I like the butterfly and the simplicity of the overall image.

A beautiful image of a fine specimen, Warren. You should have shown it to us earlier!

Painted Lady does not like opening completely the wings for a long time (at least for me), so this is very nice. Love the wing patterns and the natural colors.

Lovely shot-I see no problems here! I find this species hard to catch with open wings. Well done!

Lovely capture of this handsome butterfly. Nice symmetry and pops from the bg too.
