After some downpours, went for a walkaround with my old 100mm Canon. Lucky to spot this tiny jumping spider with its prey, likely a wasp. Dof and composition becomes an issue with the jumper holding its prey in front of its face. Apart from the many oof images, I found this one does show some nice details on the spider's body and tells a story. Probably the last time using 100mm Canon for this type of subject. I prefer a lighter lens like the old Tamron90.

60D, 100mm Canon, Raynox250, 1/250, f20, diffused flash, freehand.

Cracking image Darren. As you say, quite challenging with dob and composition on these tiny insects. With you on the Tampon 90. (won that lens in a photo competition years back with Practical Photography when they had that adaptable mount).

Thanks Tom and David.

Will continue to work at it.

David, nice to win a photo competition. Has not happened
to me yet.  I swear it will happen one day. Lol

You did well, catching the action, Darren. I like seeing the pretty blue markings on the spider. I have to wonder how it can catch a wasp that is pretty big!

Thanks Cynthia. I am glad the lens capture some fine details
that would be hard to appreciate with the naked eye.
These jumpers are well known ambush predators that pounce on
other bugs opportunistically and paralyse them with venom.
Not a lucky day for the wasp.

Will keep trying new angles for jumpers. :)
