A cultivated species till the late 1950's - used mainly as a forage legume - replaced by high yielding crops like alfalfa.

Now found wild dispersed in fields and forest edges.

Nikon D500 & Sigma 150mm Macro.

Thanks for the visit - have a great WE.

This shot is poetry.
I love the purple so deep it contrasts with the green of the background. I love the shades at the base that bring out the flower almost like in a watercolor.

I like the rich colors and the slightly out of focus green foreground at the bottom.

Love the matching duo- beautiful colors and a nice feel to the way they look so perky emerging from the deep greens.

Growing up in the country I can remember sanfoin rich fields on the local farms - and its still a nice mix in hay for horses as it doesn't cause bloat, and is more hardy than alfalfa. A beautiful image and a lovely reminder of early memories!
