Eastern Blue Devilfish Paraplesiops bleekeri
The eastern blue devilfish is a rather uncommon fish that hides out in caves and under overhangs during the day, this one was hanging close enough to the edge so it had enough light for the AF to work, so I turned off my focus light as I approached to ensure it didn't swim off. This one was found at Bare Island in Botany Bay (Sydney) at a depth of about 12m . These fish are fully protected in NSW and are found mainly along the NSW coast. This one was about 450mm long.
