This is a male Luna Moth. As a kid, and still today this is my favorite endemic moth or butterfly. This particular one must have hatched fairly recently since, at the time the photo was taken, he had very few imperfections.

Great find, amazing amount of detail captured and nicely lit. Need to click on the larger image to really appreciate it.

Beautiful specimen and details. Nice green against green. I have only seen them in the butterfly house. Great image.

Thank you so much for the EP !! Seeing this wonderful specimen brought me back almost 60 years to my childhood and having fellow photographers recognize this beautiful moth as well is very special. Very much appreciated. Warren

I have to agree with all the superlatives in everyone's comments- a wonderful shot, and it brings back memories for me too. Have not seen one for quite a few years now-I wonder how they are faring....
Congrats on your EP!
