Sardinian orchid (Ophrys tenthredinifera subsp. neglecta)

Of the numerous orchids found on Sardinia, this species rates as one of our favourites.

I love how a single specimen can have differently shaped faces.

Wishing all a pleasant Easter break - a bit sad that this is the 2nd year we've not been able to travel to our favourite Island at this time of year.

Thank you Matty, we've seen them frequently in Sardegna - they also flower in Calabria and Sicilly.

Salvatore, had some nice images on this forum.

No wonder its a favourite, Sinuhe!  Its absolutely gorgeous!  A beautiful image of these little dancing sprites - and how wonderful to see they are all wearing masks - how appropriate! :)
