You can almost cut the tension with a knife as the mantis is about to spring into action. This image puts the nature into nature shot for me. From a purely technical sense I'm surprised you were able to stop the bee as well as you did at relatively slow 1/640. Very interesting image.

A super behavior image, bringing predator and prey face to face. The viewer wonders: did the mantis capture the bee? Was the bee safely hovering?

What an amazing shot! You can see how the camouflage of the mantis might be very effective. Great drama here in the little world of insects. Got to wonder if the bee survived!
