Saw this butterfly today. It was flitting around aimlessly and not allowing any photography...until it perched in a flower bed which was full of thorns. Ignoring the thorns, I managed to grab some shots.
Checking my local butterfly guide, it resembled a Common Tiger, similar to the Monarch of North America.

Hope u enjoy the view and comments are welcomed.

Excellent detail and a fine background, the butterfly looks splendid. I think the common name is Plain tiger, Danaus chrysippus, the same genus as the Monarch.

Lovely butterfly and photo. I think the butterfly might disagree with your presumption that it was moving around aimlessly, lol. I move around aimlessly sometimes but wild things have survival to worry about usually.

Lovely shot- beautiful detail and thorny perch. It looks like a frosty Monarch (in color, not name).

Nicely captured, BG is great and plenty of good detail and lighting on the subject. I think it might be a plain tiger rather than a common tiger though. The plain tiger is described as the only tiger without stripes. The common tiger has the stripes.
