Olympus E-M1 Mk II, 40-150mm f/2.8 @150mm, 1/750 sec., f/5.6, ISO: 200.

Captured on April 22, 2019 at The Oregon Garden.

Watched the pretty Garter Snake attempt to swallow the dead fish for a while. I gave up before it did. Still don't know what the end result was.

Here's the larger version:

What an unusual subject - fine capture of the snake and fish.

Wow- I can't imagine how the snake could eat that fish-great drama! I suppose it could get a bite, but maybe snakes don't do that.....Great story-telling shot!

Cool image. He certainly won't get that thing down his gullet. He must be frustrated to be so hungry and not be able to eat it!

I can feel the snake's desperation for food. Great shot.

Fascinating shot, Mike! You've got to admire the snake's determination, but we know its never going to swallow that. Obviously hope springs eternal!

It really is a pity you didn't stay to see how this ended, but that could have taken quite a while. I'm not so sure that the snake would find swallowing this fish an impossible task. I have seen snakes successfully swallow prey that is so big that the task seems to be impossible. In fact, the more I look at this pic the more I think that once the snake works its way to the fishes head the rest will be plain sailing.
