Canon 10D, Sigma 180mm f/3.5 macro, f/8, 1/400 sec., ISO:200

From a trip to the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens on August 21, 2005.

In addition to the flora, spiders, and other insects, these lizards were often there to catch the early morning sunlight on the lava rocks in the cactus garden.

Nice selective focus to bring out the head and interesting blue colors. The rocks are also nicely detailed. It would also be nice to see the whole lizard in focus.

Beautiful portrait of this specimen, I like the firm expression of his eye,
the pose and how you have choose the focus point.

I like lizards, so its nice to see one, Mike! The selective focus works for me and I love its almost disdainful look.

Nice shot of the reptile in its natural habitat. I still have the 10D but hard to get batteries for it.

Cynthia, Mary, Carol, Tom, and Darren,

Thank you all for commenting on the image.

Darren,

The 10D, in my opinion, had the nicest files of all the Canon cameras I used to own (including the 30D, 40D, 5D, and 7d). Perhaps that was because of the relatively larger photosite size ... or my prejudiced imagination?
