every summer its a treat and a must do trip to Longwood gardens. This year was no exception despite all the hurdles. One trip leads to another and on this occasion took my Nikon 600/4 not for birds but for flowers!! Tripods need a special permission ! so i choose patch on the far edges and soon i was in the playing field!!
Moral of the story - 600mm/4 not just for birds but for flowers as well!! My 2 cents!!! And the membership continues for a good reason.

Well if you squint it "could" be a bird, right? It is a beautiful capture of this single flower regardless of the focal length; the out of focus areas and color is captivating.

This really needs a click to see the lovely details. I really like how the lily is looking so bright and cheery. And the leaves , water and background work well-they add a lot of interest. I like using long lenses for macro too!

Really beautiful shot! I love the detail on the flower, the composition and depth of field you have chosen.

+1.  I also like the use  of a long lens for isolating small subjects with limited DOF.  Very nice use with this lily.

Nice handling of the whites and low angle view. A lovely summertime scene.

Long lenses are great for flowers, your image is an excellent view of this waterlily.

Wonderful capture. Superb low view and framing. Great thinking with the 600.
