Red Fingered Anglerfish Porophryne erythrodactylus
A red Fingered Anglerfish tucked into a sponge on the reef at the steps divesite at the Entrance to Botany Bay Sydney Australia. These fish are ambush predators and near impossible to find - when I pointed it out to my dive buddy I received shoulder shrugs. They are endemic to NSW and found between Sydney and Jervis Bay - it's possible they are more common but finding them is the problem. Outside of Australia they would be called frogfish.
