Endemic to Madagascar, Mantellas are as striking as the Poison Dart Frogs in South America. This is Mantella Baroni, which closely resembles the rarer M. madagascariensis. The easiest way to distinguish between the two is by looking at the underside or the ventral view - M. baroni has a sky blue patch under the throat while M. madagascariensis’ resembles that of a horseshoe. Also, The red on the hind limbs of M. baroni only extends part way up the thigh, while M. madagascariensis has red all the way through the thighs.
